How to Set Up a 4 Month Calendar

    1. Choose where it starts. Pick any month, or use the buttons for January to April, May to August or September to December. The arrows jump four months at a time.
    2. Add the big dates first. Exams, deadlines, trips and the last day of a project. Then fill in the smaller things around them.
    3. Add holidays and extras. Popular days, religious holidays, a notes box or a photo of your own.
    4. Style it. Four styles, eight colors and a title of your choice, such as "Fall Semester".
    5. Download or print. Save this page as a PDF or PNG. "Download 12 months" gives you the whole year on 3 pages.

The Year in Three 4 Month Blocks

Split the year into thirds and every page holds about 17 weeks. Here is how 2027 breaks down, with the US federal holidays in each block.

    MonthsDaysLengthUS federal holidays
January to April 120 17 weeks and 1 day New Year's Day (Jan 1), Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Jan 18), Presidents' Day (Feb 15)
May to August 123 17 weeks and 4 days Memorial Day (May 31), Juneteenth (Jun 19, day off Jun 18), Independence Day (Jul 4, day off Jul 5)
September to December 122 17 weeks and 3 days Labor Day (Sep 6), Columbus Day (Oct 11), Veterans Day (Nov 11), Thanksgiving Day (Nov 25), Christmas Day (Dec 25, day off Dec 24), New Year's Day 2028 (day off Dec 31)

September to December is the busiest block for holidays in 2027, with 6 federal days off. It is worth planning around them early, since federal offices, post offices and most banks close.

Plan a Semester on One Page

A semester at many US colleges is about 15 or 16 weeks long, finals included. That fits inside four months with room to spare, so a 4 month calendar makes a simple semester planner. Your school's academic calendar has the exact dates.

    1. Start with the first month of classes, often August or January.
    2. Add the fixed dates: first day of class, breaks, and the last day of finals.
    3. Add every exam and paper due date. With all of them on one page, the heavy weeks jump out, and you can start those projects early.
    4. Print two copies: one for your desk and one for your binder.

More Ideas for a Four Month Calendar

    A 16-week training plan

Training for a race or getting ready for a big event? Count back 16 weeks from the day and mark the start. Four months is about 17 weeks, so the whole plan, from the first session to the big day, fits on one page. Cross off each workout as you finish it.

    Summer season

For camp staff, lifeguards, landscapers and anyone with a summer business, May to August is the season that counts. Plan shifts, orders and events with the whole summer in view. Popular days like Mother's Day and Father's Day are one tick away.

    Countdown to a big day

A move, a wedding, a new baby or a long trip: when something big is a few months away, put all four months on the wall and mark each step on the way. Ticking them off feels good, and nothing sneaks up on you.

    2. Enter the year and the first month, for example August for a fall semester.
    3. Pick Sunday or Monday as the first day of the week.
    4. Add your dates in the boxes under each day. Holiday names are listed under each month.
    5. Print it on one landscape page.

Printing Four Months on One Page

    • Always two by two. The four months sit in a 2 by 2 grid on any paper. Portrait makes each month taller, landscape makes it wider.
    • Need taller boxes? Legal paper (8.5 x 14 in) in portrait gives every day more height. A3 or Tabloid makes a good wall planner.
    • Notes under the months. Tick "Notes box" for a strip of lines at the bottom for goals or reminders.
    • Check the scale. Print at 100%. If your printer cuts off an edge, choose "Fit to page". See our printing guide for more.

    4 Month Calendar FAQ

What is a 4 month calendar?

It is a calendar that shows four months in a row on a single page, laid out two by two. It covers a third of the year, which is about 17 weeks.

How many weeks are in 4 months?

About 17. Four months in a row have 120 to 123 days, which is 17 weeks and 1 day up to 17 weeks and 4 days.

Can I use it as a semester calendar?

Yes. Start with the month your classes begin, then add the first day, breaks, exams and finals as events. Many US college semesters are about 15 or 16 weeks long, so a whole term fits on one page. Check your school's academic calendar for the exact dates.

Which months go together on a 4 month calendar?

Any four in a row. Splitting the year into January to April, May to August and September to December gives you three even pages, and each one is a single click in the options. For school, August to November or January to April often lines up with a semester.

How do I print the whole year on 3 pages?

Pick January, then click Download 12 months. The PDF has 3 pages: January to April, May to August and September to December.

Does the 4 month calendar show US holidays?

Yes. Federal holiday dates are shown in red, and their names are listed under each month. Turn on popular days and religious holidays in the options if you want those too.

Can I change the colors and the style?

Yes. Choose Simple, Classic, Cute or Aesthetic, then one of 8 colors. Simple is black and white, which saves ink on a home printer.

Is there a 4 month calendar for Excel or Google Sheets?

Yes. Click Download Excel for a free template. Set the year and the first month in the yellow cells, and all four months update with US federal holidays. It opens in Excel and in Google Sheets.
